Our table

The Hosts of This Salon

We are a handful of friends who met at a community film club in East London and kept talking long after the projector cooled down.

Why people first

Most writing about home viewing starts with specifications. We start with the person on the sofa. Film has always been social, from the London Film Society in 1925 to the ciné-clubs of Paris and the sofas of the Electric Cinema. We think the best advice comes from listening to the people who host, tinker and curate in real homes.

How we work

Our stories are drawn from conversations with readers, club organisers and hobbyists. To protect privacy we describe them by role and city rather than by full name, and some details are lightly changed. Facts about public figures, places and standards are checked against published sources. When we get something wrong, tell us and we will correct it.

Independence

Signalstorflicknestl is independent. We are not affiliated with any studio, streaming service, cinema or equipment maker, we accept no paid placements and we do not use affiliate links.
